School Introduction
Acmar International School is a British-style inter-school located in Shah Alam, Malaysia, featuring relatively reasonable tuition and small class sizes. Founded in 1996 as a private school, the school has also included an international division since 2018.
Enrolling 3-16 year olds, the early childhood division uses an exploratory, play-based approach to support children's holistic development and provide a broad range of learning, including social and emotional aspects. In the elementary grades, the curriculum incorporates thematic and creative elements with specific learning objectives for each subject area. The development of an international outlook and an attitude of independent learning are also emphasized.
The school has less than 200 students, with an average class size of 15-17 students and a maximum of 20 students, ensuring a relaxed learning environment. Approximately 80% of the students are Malaysian, and there are students from more than 15 countries, including Japan. There are approximately 8 Japanese students.
Most of the teachers are Malaysian, and each class has a homeroom teacher. A "Transition Class" is also provided for children who are not comfortable with English, so that non-English speaking children, including Japanese children, can participate in regular classes without difficulty.
